What if?

What wins in business today?  “Wow” factors?  Being “different”?  Or is it simply being the best at those things that matter most to customers?

Interbrand’s list of the Best Retail Brands of 2012 reveals something interesting.  What do these market leading retailers all have in common? More specifically, what’s missing?

Walmart, Target, The Home Depot, CVS, Best Buy, Walgreens, Coach, Sam’s Club, Amazon.com, eBay, Nordstrom, Publix, Lowe’s, Dollar General, Costco.

What’s missing are short cuts, silver bullets, gimmicks, and random “wow” factors.  Top brands, whether in retail, service, manufacturing, information technology, or any other endeavor, all share the ability to focus and excel on what matters most.

What if you, your team, or your entire organization had absolute clarity about what was most important, and that’s where all of your energy was focused?  Imagine the force multiplier of that kind of shared sense of direction, purpose, and priorities.

Simplify, focus, be the best.
